Teeth Whitening Options

There are many products and techniques available for patients who want to achieve a whiter smile, and with so many options available, it can be difficult to choose the method that is right for you. The best way to begin any teeth whitening regimen is to schedule an appointment, and talk to Dr. Ferraioli about the differences between in-office professional whitening and at-home whitening.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

The first professional option is commonly referred to as “in-office” whitening. This procedure is performed in a dental office. An in-office whitening treatment may include the use of a whitening lamp to enhance the effectiveness of the whitening gel by accelerating the peroxide.

During an office visit, we will apply the whitening gel and, depending on the system being used, will shine a light source directly onto the teeth. The entire office visit generally takes about 90 minutes with immediate results.  We are proud to offer two in-office options.

  • ZOOM! Whitening

ZOOM! Whitening is a one-visit instant whitening procedure.  This is for the patient that does not want to wear the specially designed bleaching trays, or wants an instantaneous result.  The results are comparable to results that take 10-14 days to get whiter with standard at-home bleaching.

  • KÖR® Deep Bleaching

KÖR® Deep Bleaching is a whitening procedure created by a dentist in California.  This is for the patient that wants their teeth to be as white as possible.  It combines specially fabricated whitening trays that are made from molds of your teeth with one or two in-office sessions (depending on the darkness of your teeth) to make your teeth as white as they can possibly be; which is often beyond what was previously possible.  These specially designed trays seal the whitening agent into the tray where the tooth meets the gum so that the whitening gel does not leak out and irritate the gums.  This revolutionary procedure can be used even with patients that have severely dark-stained/tetracycline-stained teeth!

At-Home Teeth Whitening

  • Tray Bleaching

Tray bleaching is a type of professional whitening that uses custom-made trays and whitening gel only available through a dental office. The whitening gel is placed in custom-fitted trays that fit perfectly over your teeth, and does not allow the gel to irritate your gums. As the peroxide in the gel breaks down, oxygen released hydroxyradicals help whiten stained teeth. Unlike strips, this process whitens all your natural teeth and may contain ingredients intended to provide maximum comfort. At-home professional tray whitening generally takes 10-14 days, although you may notice results in as little as three to five days.

  • Très White Bleaching Trays

These discreet trays do not require molds or impressions to be taken.  Patients can see results in 5-10 days by wearing these for only about 1 hour a day!  This is the most economical whitening treatment we offer.

  • Teeth Whitening Strips

Teeth whitening strips are thin, flexible plastic (polyethylene) strips with a thin film of hydrogen peroxide bleaching on one side. Whitening strip kits come with two types of strips: strips for the upper teeth and strips for the lower teeth. The bleaching agent is applied by placing the strips across your teeth and gently pressing the strips into place to ensure contact with all your teeth. Teeth whitening strips are typically worn for 30 minutes a day, twice a day. The duration of treatment will vary.
